ChatGPT Ads Are Getting Custom Audiences

ChatGPT Ads Are Getting Custom Audiences

July 9, 2026

OpenAI’s ChatGPT Ads platform appears to be moving closer to the targeting power of Google and Meta, with reports showing a new custom audiences option inside its ad tools.

The feature reportedly lets advertisers upload customer lists, including raw or hashed emails and phone numbers, and use them as audience filters for campaigns. That means brands may soon be able to reach existing customers, high-value leads, or exclude certain users from seeing specific ads inside ChatGPT.

For digital marketers, this is a major signal. ChatGPT is no longer just an AI chatbot; it is slowly becoming a serious advertising platform built around user intent, conversations, and first-party data.

If custom audiences become widely available, agencies and brands could use ChatGPT Ads for retargeting, lead nurturing, customer reactivation, and more personalized ad campaigns.

The big question now is simple: will ChatGPT Ads become the next must-have platform after Google, Meta, and TikTok?
